The Australian Government has announced that a formal citizenship test will
be introduced.
On 30 May 2007, the Minister for Immigration and Citizenship, the Hon Kevin
Andrews MP, introduced in the Parliament the Australian Citizenship
Amendment (Citizenship Testing) Bill 2007. The bill, if passed, will amend
the Australian Citizenship Act 2007 and require most applicants for
citizenship by conferral to have successfully completed a citizenship test
before applying.
